A REMINDER OF PAST EVENTS
Wine and Wheels November 19th 2010
A different twist on a traditional Sunday drive was to tour some of west Auckland's wineries and altogether we visited four places, Soljans, Coopers Creek, West Brook and Twin Totara, ranging from big names to a small speciality boutique winery. We sampled of wines made locally and throughout New Zealand for free: special offers and bin ends encouraged some members to get their wallets out!
We started out in the morning so stopped off for lunch at Carriages Cafe. Big mistake! Long Yang Club member Keith invited us for afternoon tea and he did us proud with homemade treats served in his relocated home on top of a hill in the depths of the countryside.
We all enjoyed the magnificent spread and a big Thank You is due to Keith!

Annual Christmas Party December 12th 2010
We asked people to make this annual event a big success because we wanted to do justice to the fabulous venue. And everyone did! The Quarter Acre Paradise in Mangere was a fantastic backdrop for the Nibbles Contest sponsored by Boulevard Catering and judged by Greg as well as the arrival of Santa Claus accompanied by Mrs Santa.
The club subsidised the event and Greg also provided us with a ham that he expertly carved on the night. Our friends at Wellington CityGaystay provided a raffle prize of a night at one of their two locations. Everyone attending had such a good time that we over-ran our time at the gardens, which as dusk falls, become
a riot of lights, but our gracious hosts Dale Harvey and John Newton didn't mind.

Barbeque night March 12th 2011
New members Paul and James provided a new venue for a club barbeque. Paul claims to be a bbq expert and on the night he proved his skills. Visitors brought a wide variety of foods, including vegetarian and meaty sausages plus steak to slap on the barbie and Paul mastered it all.
This event, the first of the club's new calendar of activities, proved to be a great success with some 30 people attending. Our thanks are due to Paul and James for being kind and welcoming hosts.

Bruno's Pot Luck Dinner April 16th 2011
We asked people last year to theme their pot luck dinners and Richard rose to the occassion with Bruno as a theme. Some visitors entered into the spirit of the night arriving with fake feather boas and racy hats while Bruno's name was spread across a generous pie. We welcomed some new people as well as returning friends and thanks to Richard for hosting this event.
