13-06-2004 Restaurant Outing - Da-Kao Vietnamese Restaurant
Lots of member turned up in Rainbowhouse to have a drink
and take the opportunity to chat with LYC members. At 7pm,
there were 20 members trying to squeeze into the tiny restaurant
to enjoy the well renown Vietnamese cuisine. later, quite
a number of members left together to dance in the YOU disco.
09-05-2004 Restaurant Outing - Dragon Chinese Restaurant
Like the previous outing, but this time we have chosen a
Chinese restaurant, just a few minutes walk from Rainbowhouse.
It was a buffet so it just well suited to our vegetarian
members as well. Thanks for Meng, we managed to have a discount
for the wonderful meal.
11-04-2004 Restaurant Outing - Pattaya Thai Restaurant
This was the first time we sent out for a dinner in a restaurant.
After a short gathering at Rainbowhouse, we left in big
group by walking to the Thai restaurant closed by. Again
we have tremendous success as the member just kept turning
up to join the dinner. At the end there were a total of
27 members crowding the long table in the restaurant, and
of course, everybody was satisfied to feed their gourmand.
14-03-2004 Potluck meeting
This time we have a cosy meeting in Rainbowhouse again with
potluck party. More than 20 members presented that day and
the happy hour ended only after 9:30pm.
08-02-2004 Potluck meeting
Again, it was another successful meeting on Feb 8, 2004!
Thanks to all participants for making this a wonderful party.
We have seen more and more new faces showing up. In fact,
we had no idea that there are actually so many Asians residing
in this country. And we have not even started advertising
yet ! We certainly hope all these new friends will continue
to attend our LYC meetings and make it a useful and efficient
network to link the Asians and Westerners in this country!
11-01-2004 Chinese New Year Gathering
Our second party on Jan 11, 2004 was a great success with
no less than 37 people attending. That's a lot of new members
!. As it was the Chinese New year the Rainbow House was
decorated with lots of appropriately red Chinese lanterns
and decorations.
14-12-2003 First Member Meeting
This is the summary of our first meeting held on Dec 13,
as written by Steve and Luc:
Dear All,
It has been a week already since we first got together to
organize the creation of the Brussels Long Yang Club. So
it is official : our Long Yang Club Brussels was born on
December 13, 2003, with 20 founding members present and
14 others who could not attend, but will surely join our
next meetings. We even welcomed a new member on that day
: Tuan from Vietnam, who happened to pass by the Rainbow
house and dropped in....
It was good to see the enthusiasm and the goodwill during
that meeting and the dinner that followed. Thanks to all
of you, we had a superb meal with tastings from different
skilled chefs. A special 'thank you' to Alain who prepared
a special 'birthcake' for the LYC - as you can see from
the attached picture.
Just to remind you some of the things we discussed and decided
:
- LYC Brussels will be an non-profit organization run by
its volunteer members, aiming at organizing social events
for gay Asians and non-Asians.
- We will have an official statute of 'VZW/ASBL' if and
when the need arises.
- As a regular activity, we will have a Pot Luck Party on
the second Sunday of every Month, organized by different
members every time. So book them ahead in your agenda.
- Members are encouraged to organize other events at will.
Some ideas were : bowling, concerts, outings, cooking lessons,
and many others.
- Steve will update the Website. Any help from volunteers
is welcome .
- Ideas and events will be announced on our Website : www.longyangclub.org/Brussels
OUR NEXT PARTY :
an early CHINESE NEW YEAR CELEBRATION !
Where : Rainbow House, rue marché au charbon 42,
1000 Brussels
When : Sunday January 11, at 16:30
In charge : Alain. Please confirm your participation to
Alain.charlier@skynet.be
Meals : Everyone brings a dish. Meng is coordinating who
brings what (so we don't all come with dessert...)
Dress code : Wear what you like, but remember that the color
for Chinese New Year should be red....
Bring along : Yourself and friends who are all welcome
Cost : One Euro for the room, and the price of your drinks
from the bar.
Let's have fun together - still looking for volunteers to
teach us Mah Jong.....!!!
Any suggestions and comments are welcome - the mailing list
for all members is available in the TO: line, so we can
now all communicate with each other.
