Message from the Secretary LYCI, 19 April 1. iCON 2006: Due to circumstances beyond their control LYC Adelaide have dropped their plans to host iCON 2006 which was to be held in Adelaide Australia. 2. LYC Adelaide has also voted to withdraw their membership in Long Yang Club International they are now a local Social organization with no affiliations with any other organizations. We are extremely sad that they have chosen to do this. 3. Due to the withdrawal of LYC Adelaide from our family, We now have two vacancies one is on the Executive Committee LYCI Vice President and the Regional Coordinator's position for ANZASIA has also resigned. 4. As for iCON 2006 the Executive Committee has asked LYC Minnesota if they would be interested in hosting iCON since they had originally submitted a bid but withdrew their bid in favor of LYC Adelaide. LYC Minnesota has decided that they will submit their bid for iCON 2007. 5. This leaves us with no host for iCON 2006. As a result the Executive committee is opening the floor for bids to host iCON 2006. Please see below for instructions. 6. Due to the Resignation of Chris Winzar as Vice President of LYCI, The position of Vice President is now Vacant. We are also accepting nominations for this postion as well. Sincerely Jimmy Eggleston Secretary Long Yang Club International [LYCC Editor's Note: As we were not a paid up member on 4 May, our members were not eligible to nominate, and LYCC could not vote. But next time, we can!.] Email from the President of LYC International - 10 May 2005 Dear Long Yang Friends, It was nothing less than a disaster when a couple of months back our Adelaide Chapter decided to withdraw affiliation to our LYC Global Family. Here was a Chapter of friends that many of us have individually come to know on a personal basis and so there is sadness that we are now at loss for the medium of LongYang that was a part and parcel of our lives. The deep reasons for this Chapter's loss to us are not just serious communications misunderstandings about the hosting by them of iCON2006 in Adelaide, but other historical conflicts that touched upon our International side much too personal to go into here. I hope you will trust me enough to share that critically important lessons have been learned and your International Executive will be more sensitively committed to learn from these. Some of you don't know that I was the Founder (and now Life Member) of our Auckland Chapter but I live in New Zealand now on the Banks Peninsula. "Auckland" would not have got off the ground without the serious dedication of our then Regional Coordinator, Kerry Seebohm. And I'm sure many of you will have the same story. Kerry is and will be deeply missed to us in his LongYang role more than words can say. For the meantime, the International Executive have agreed that I act in the role of Regional Coordinator ANZ/Asia pending a more permanent appointment. In a more happy vein, may I announce the formation of our newest Chapter in Palmerston North, New Zealand. If you would like to follow up on my goodwill message, please write to palmy@longyangclub.org and sneak a look at their web site http://geocities.com/lycpalmy/index.html Please be sure of my attention to any concerns you might have, and accept my best wishes to all your members. Warmest Regards, Chris Hamblin PRESIDENT LONGYANG INTERNATIONAL Actg. Regional Coordinator ANZ/Asia.
