iCON 2006
It is with Pleasure that the Executive Committee of Long Yang Club International announce that LYC Pacific Friends San Francisco has been accepted to host iCON 2006. As you know LYC Adelaide had requested to withdraw from hosting iCON 2006 in Adelaide Australia. The Event will be once again co hosted w/ ifw2006 also due to take place in SFO on the Labor Day Weekend in September of 2006. I have posted LYC Pacific Friends email to the EC below so that everyone can have an ideal of what is in store for a great Week of Fun in San Francisco for everyone. Please Mark your Calendars and come and join your friends in San Francisco for a great time. Please See the Following. During Peter's public sector career, he has drafted or been involved in the drafting of legislation, delegated legislation and the constitution of a gay organisation incorporated under Australian state law. Well done Peter!
LYC INTERNATIONAL : BRIEF REPORTS
We have news from LYC Berlin that it is doing well. They just had a good time at the Berlin Gay Festival (Christopher Street?). They have a new webmaster to update their website. According to Juergen Muller, the organizer, they have now more members than before (did not say how many).
LYC Denver new president is Charles Chen.
Our latest chapter is LYC Tampa . It is now hosting events and officially registered with Long Yang Club International. They are planning to have a website soon.
LYC Sydney is considering the idea of hosting an iCON in the future, possibly around the time of Mardi Gras in Febuary (the year has not been decided, just the time of year). . It is asking the views of its members and asking LYC Canberra to jointly host the event before officially deciding to put in a bid. Although no date has been decided, possible earliest date slated will be 2008.
LYC Canberra is doing well and they are now going to officially register with LYCI and pay the dues. Every one of its recent events averages 40 attendees.
LYC Auckland's members Bruce and Ken were one fo the first East-West couples to join together in a "Civil Union". Photos of them are at the chapter's parallel website at http://roseken0.tripod.com/civilunion/ . Their main website is at www.longyangclub.org
LYC London will for the first time, be having a float for Lesbian and Gay Pride parade in London. Their team is “The Garden of Eden”. It will be one of 40 floats in the parade. LYC Paris will also be having their annual floats at Paris Pride. LYC Minnesota took part in Pride with a party and a booth at Pride Park. LYC Pacific Friends have a party in a member’s apartment that overlooks SF Pride, and they also had a booth on Pride Park. LYC Boston also had a booth at Pride.
LYC London had its AGM and election in June. The Chairman (Choc), Treasurer (Simon T.), and Secretary (James J.) has been reelected but there were some new people to the Committee. The London chapter also added in its constitution: "The club shall support the promotion of Long Yang Clubs worldwide and will be a member of any such international organisation, which ascribes to the ethos of Long Yang Clubs"
LYC Melbourne has a new webmaster to maintain its website.
LYC Toronto said they now have about 120 registrations for iCON IFW 2005.
The new Regional Coordinator for the Midwest is Rick Simon. He has been with the board of LYC Minnesota and is also their group Secretary. We have report from him that he is in contact with some people in Winniepeg and that a new LYC chapter may be started soon. There has been no date on when it may start.
