The
secretary says:
The August function, our first yum-cha, was very successful with 19 attending. Consensus was that the food was of a very high standard – Aden, a visitor from Sydney, saying it was comparable with the best there. Thanks to Treasurer Barrie for organising this event. It is hoped to make Sunday yum-chas an ongoing event, though not at the exclusion of other monthly activities. Your Committee has nominated Peter Holmes for a position on the Executive Committee of Long Yang Clubs International. The nomination was seconded by the Melbourne club and approved by the Sydney chapter. The now inactive Brisbane club was informed as a matter of courtesy. At this time we have not heard whether Peter's nomination has been successful; however your committee is sure Peter will be a worthy representative of Long Yang Clubs in Australia (Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra) over which he will hold a co-ordinating role; and we wish him every success. Our September function will another yum-cha at the same venue at mid-day on Sunday 17th September. This is because the annual Floriade event with our Sydney brothers has been pushed back to the (hopefully) warmer weekend of 7-8 October – when we will also be able to enjoy the benefits of daylight saving. Your committee is planning a second event in October: gay games on Sunday 29th. More details will be released soon. We have also mapped out a program of events through to the Annual General Meeting next February. This can be found on the Events page. So, Get your acceptances for our next function, yum-cha on the 17th, into Treasurer Barrie at barriec@homemail.com.au as soon as possible. Cheers David C September 17th - Yum-Cha at Woden. Please RSVP Treasurer Barrie at barriec@homemail.com.au before mid-day, Friday 15th. Also check out our Events Page.
