In 1983 a group of people in London founded the first Long Yang Club. It was called Long Yang Club London. The name Long Yang comes from a Chinese warlord by the name of Lord Long Yang, who is mentioned in the Chinese Book of Legends, “Dream of the Red Chamber” and was known to be gay.

Billy Wong who was a member of the original group in LYC-London spearheaded a drive to establish other Long Yang Chapters around the World thus becoming the first organization to have chapters around the world dedicated to the principles and purposes of Long Yang Club.

The intent of Long Yang Club is to form a social group where East and West can meet in a friendly and casual atmosphere in the hopes of forming friendships and understanding of other cultures through a variety of social functions.

Long Yang Club Manila is the newest of 37 chapters spread across 7 countries and is only the second in Asia. It is a non-profit organization that wishes to promote friendship and social interaction between gay and bi-sexual people as well as straights of Asian and non-Asian descent.

Long Yang Club Manila is intended to be a non-political social group that strives to offer its members a safe, discreet and comfortable atmosphere in which to be themselves and to meet others like themselves without fear of harassment or being “outed” to others.
