First Edition
September 2006
We just recently had our First Annual Picnic on August 13, Sunday. There was a pool available, but it was too hot to utilize.
We have had a function every month, a Christmas party, pool party get togethers, picnics and an Annual Picnic!
So far, in a year's time, our membership has grown to 48 plus 6 pending applicants.
It took me about two years to get this group off the ground. Support from the main LYC mother group helped with that but we are sustained by the present members of our group. Noteworthy are those members who have accepted to take up positions, to give a good backbone and make it work even better.
We now meet about once a month and we are looking forward to increasing this more in the near future. Thanks to our members who have opened their homes to our pot luck suppers and pool parties, and those other members who invite guests to meet our group and hopefully join.
We are a great diverse group, from university professors to nurses to computer technologists to entertainers.
Our Asian participation is growing slowly but it is growing. Somehow the word is spreading and Asian applicants appear to be coming out
of hiding. They are seeing that they can really enjoy a nice social group without the worry of feeling vulnerable to anyone.
Our members are ranging in all age groups! We must all stop worrying about age differences, and see it as a positive characteristic of the group! We are here to make friends and enjoy good times together.

We must dispel the preconceived notion that a lot of prospective members have - that we are a group of "old" men. On the contrary, we are a group of men.
Whether young or old, we have an advantage - we make friendships within the group and you cannot have enough of that in your life.
So to just let the younger man in the audience know, come and join us and just have some good laughs and fun. No one will hurt you or hunt you down. The more younger guys that join the more there will be to meet and get to know - before you know it, you might see yourselves dating each other.
And by the way , we have several couples in the group, and they are enjoying the friendships they made with the rest of us.
So prospective members, come and join us!

And to all our beloved members, let us make the other chapters know how good we are with our friendships here in Tampabay!

Thoughts to live by:
Be who you are, not who you is not !
Eat to live, not live to eat.
A chain is no stronger than its weakest link.
As you sow, so shall you reap.
Better the devil you know
than the devil you don't know.
